The Banner Making Girls - Annette, Lynne, Carol, Liz and Glenda
HISTORY OF THE RED HAT ROCKETTES BANNER
2006
by Lady Glenda Glitter
As a project for the forthcoming red Hat Convention in Perth in November, 2006, groups were invited to make a banner for their chapter to carry in the parade through Perth.
On July 7th, "Princess Oceannette", (Annette), "Lady Muck", (Carol), "Lady Chocaholic", (Liz), "Contessa Passionata", (Maz), and "Lady Glenda Glitter", (Glenda), met to design a banner and choose fabrics and colours. With a kaleidoscope of different materials, much brainstorming and loads of calorie laden food, we decided on a purple background with red lettering. We decided to make a feature of our mascot, "Roxanne" and to place two red hats beneath the lettering. We arranged to meet again in a fortnight. Sadly Maz was unable to join us again as she had family commitments.
July 21st. In addition to Annette, Carol, Liz and Glenda we had "Princess Buttercup", (Lynne) join us. Annette had been able to get some donations from Spotlight in Rockingham, and had also provided and sewn the basic banner for us. We spent the time making and attaching the letters to the banner. Annette kindly took it home and sewed around the lettering.
August 4th saw us together again, but this time minus Carol. We were able to copy an outline of Roxanne from a photo supplied by our "Queen Beadazzled". Fabrics were chosen and Roxanne took shape. Two sparkling red hat were produced and attached. At the end of the day all was ready for the finishing touches. Once more Annette and her trusty machine provided detailed stitching and our banner was almost complete. Glenda added some sequins and pearls and Lyn attached twenty four sequin flowers she had made to represent each member of our group.
The banner was ready to unveil at our August meeting.
Many thanks to all who gave their time and talents to produce a fitting addition to our Red Hat Rockettes memorabilia. We will carry it with pride!

Dear Red Hat Ladies, I love to share most things ... but please
do not make copies of any of the graphics from these pages.
I have made all of these graphics myself, (including the background)
and they are specifically for use on this website only.
Thanks SO much!
