A few Points to Note
Overseas Payments:If you are not sure how to buy and pay for items from overseas, check out the "How do I send money overseas?" information that I have here!
Videos: US videos are in NTSC format, whereas the Aussie format is PAL. Some websites do offer PAL format videos for an extra charge. I have found that unless your TV and VCR are very old, they will be "NTSC playback" enabled, and you will have no problems playing an NTSC video. I now always buy NTSC videos instead of paying the extra $$$ for PAL converted ones.
DVD's: DVD's have a "zone" encoding (to try to try to avoid videopiracy.) USA is zone 1. Australia is zone 4. You can't play a zone 1 DVD on a zone 4 machine. If you are buying a DVD from overseas, then you need to make sure that the DVD is a Zone 0 (zero). - OR - your DVD player needs to be a multi-zone player. (Most DVD players sold in Australia are targeted zone 4 machines.)
Postage costs: ALWAYS check the postage charges before you order an item. For example, FCBD will *only* post insured parcels overseas. This would be a minimum of $US 20. The postage costs increase with the value of your purchases. For example, my last parcel from FCBD cost $US 36.95 in postage alone!! If you have friends or family in America, then it might be worthwhile to get them to post the parcel to your US contact, and then ask your friend to re-send it on to you.
